What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences, and they let us understand how the site is being used. Similar technologies such as local storage work in much the same way, and where we refer to cookies below we mean both.

How we use them

We keep our use of cookies deliberately limited. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell any data collected through cookies.

Cookies on this site fall into two groups:

Strictly necessary cookies are required for the website to function and to remain secure. These are set without asking your permission, because the site cannot work properly without them. They do not track you.

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site. These are only set if you agree to them. If you decline, they are not placed on your device, and the website works exactly as it did before.

Cookies used on this site

Strictly necessary

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
cmplz_ (various) This website Records your cookie preferences and the version of this policy you agreed to, so we do not ask you on every page Up to 1 year
wordfence_verifiedHuman, wfwaf-authcookie-* Wordfence (security) Distinguishes genuine visitors from automated attacks and protects the administrative area. Only set where relevant to security checks. Session to 24 hours

Analytics — only set with your consent

Cookie Set by Purpose Expires
_ga Google Analytics Assigns a randomly generated identifier so returning visits can be counted as one visitor rather than several 2 years
_ga_NLBG9LFKHM Google Analytics Maintains the state of an individual visit to the site 2 years

Analytics data is retained for 14 months.

Maps — only loaded with your consent

Pages that display our location include an interactive map from Google Maps. Until you consent, the map is not loaded and is replaced by a notice. If you accept, your browser contacts Google directly to load the map, and Google may set cookies on your device as a result, including __Secure-ENID, which Google uses for its own preference and security purposes.

Our address is shown in plain text on the same page, so you lose nothing by declining.

We do not control the cookies Google sets. Details are available in Google’s own cookie documentation.

Managing your preferences

When you first visit the site you are asked whether you accept analytics cookies. You can change your answer at any time by selecting Cookie settings in the footer of any page.

You can also control cookies through your browser, which will let you block or delete cookies from any website. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of this site working correctly. Instructions are available in the help documentation for your particular browser.

Changes

We may update this policy if the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
