This policy explains what personal data we collect through our website at www.schneider-facades.co.uk, why we collect it, and what rights you have in relation to it.

What we collect and why

Our website does not have an enquiry form, account system or newsletter signup. We do not ask you to submit personal information in order to use it. The data below is collected automatically as a consequence of the site operating, or because you have chosen to contact us.

Server and security logs

Our hosting provider records standard web server logs when you visit the site. Our security software records information about requests it considers suspicious, including failed login attempts to the website’s administrative area.

Data: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, date and time, referring page
Why: to keep the website running correctly, diagnose faults, and protect the site against attack and unauthorised access
Lawful basis: legitimate interests — specifically our interest in maintaining a secure and functioning website
Retention: security and login logs recorded by our website security software are retained for 30 days. Standard web server logs are retained by our hosting provider in accordance with their own retention practices, and are not used by us for any purpose other than diagnosing faults and investigating security incidents.

Analytics

If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and how the site performs on different devices. This uses cookies. We do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors and we do not use it for advertising.

Data: a randomly generated identifier stored in a cookie, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser information
Why: to understand how the site is used and improve it
Lawful basis: consent — analytics cookies are not set unless you accept them, and you can withdraw consent at any time
Retention:** [CONFIRM IN GA4 — Admin > Data Settings > Data Retention; 14 months is the usual setting]

Google Analytics is provided by Google. Information about how Google processes this data is available in Google’s own privacy documentation.

Maps

If you consent, pages showing locations on maps load an interactive map provided by Google Maps. Loading the map causes your browser to connect to Google’s servers, which allows Google to receive your IP address and set cookies on your device. If you do not consent, the map is not loaded.

Lawful basis: consent
Alternative: Our address is published in plain text alongside the map, so no functionality is lost if you decline and the project map will not be usable.

If you contact us

If you email or telephone us, we will hold whatever information you choose to give us in order to respond and, where relevant, to manage a business relationship.

Data: your name, contact details, and the content of your correspondence
Why: to respond to your enquiry and to keep a record of our dealings with you
Lawful basis: legitimate interests, or where we are working together, performance of a contract

International transfers

Google is based in the United States and personal data collected through Google Analytics and Google Maps may be transferred outside the UK. Where such transfers occur, they are made under the safeguards permitted by UK data protection law, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
